broiled banana peanut butter toast

Through the magic of Pinterest, I discovered sliced banana toasts. I thought the concept of broiling bananas on top of toast was brilliant, so I decided to try it with our frequent breakfast of whole wheat toast, peanut butter, and banana.

The verdict? Awesome. I simply toasted some whole grain bread, spread a tablespoon of butter on top, topped it with a sliced banana, and popped it under the broiler.

I also sprinkled them with cinnamon, although I realized that next time I ought to try a dusting of cocoa powder. The brown sugar in the original recipe looks pretty terrific, too.

  1. These look amazing–fantastic pictures. The bananas are so pretty broiled like that!

Seems like if you sprinkled the brown sugar on beforehand, it would end up as some sort of delicious broiled banana brûlée.

  3. I love the PB-banana combo…I’ll definitely have to give this a shot!

  5. These look delicious. I’ve never done the PB and banana thing. We do peanut butter and onion in my fam…any suggestions for something creative with this combo. Meanwhile, I’ll get bananas tomorrow.

  6. I have a hard time eating plain bananas (make me gag) but they are so cheap and so good for me I feel obliged to try. I think I could eat bananas like this. I imagine it’d taste like a yummy sauteed bananas dessert, especially with honey drizzled on top!
