We have a weekly dinner with some dear friends. This week’s theme was fall food. The menu was spectacular – handmade pumpkin-shaped ravioli stuffed with squash and goat cheese and served in a hazelnut brown butter sauce, a salad garnished with apples and cranberries and pecans. I wish I had a photo of the ravioli. They were so darling and delicious. Things like that take the edge off missing summer, a little bit. We brought dessert.
Krista has focused on pumpkin desserts for the past few days. It’s the reason for the season, you know. So, last night was a pumpkin crème brûlée. It was delicious — serious spiced pumpkin pie flavor and a perfect brûlée crunch. This furthers my theory that any flavor is better in a crème brûlée than pie.
